General info

Research and discovery
Because the end goal is to align and re-use resources, we created a more robust research strategy to move forward, this was translated into a user research repository using a tool Dovetail. In order to centralize all knowledge and analyze data in a more straight-forward way. This also extended to create templates for the reports, interviews and have a process in order to follow the same steps for the research and discovery.
Research repository
A user research repo is a place where your team can find, share, and generate insights about the user data they have.

Benchmark
The objective for the new design was clear: To upsell coverages and extras for the vehicles. So we analice our competitors but also we took a very close look to airlines who are very good at upselling, specially Ryan Air and Vueling.
User journey and wireframes
Create a map tracks down the journey of the user since they plan the experience upon they interact with the site. Write down your hypothesis on how to solve the initial process and quickly iterate with the help of wireframes.
Online tests
With the help of Maze we where able to test our assumptions with a very segmented part of their database, this help us iterate in a very agile manner.

Design system
We applied the new rebranding into the existing library and also tokenize the colors, fonts, and icons to be used in the different components in a more modular way.
But the design system was not only a Figma file, we embraced this opportunity to collaborate with other teams and to align, the first team to go through this process was marketing team to have a single vision about the look and feel of the product, then we have sessions with the front-end team.
This is a small sample of the token library that we created to align all group component and styles
UI first delivery
This are some of the main pages for booking a vehicle for a trip, our main target are families doing vacations specially in Spain, then our second largest group are small trips in different countries that we offer our services.
Home page
This is the page where users typically arrive, there is a booking pod to select the travel dates and the location.

Select a car
Then the users need to select the vehicle that is more suited for them. Maybe they need a van for a family trip or a small car for a business trip.
Select your rate
And last in the process of selecting the vehicle and schedule for the trip, users need to select the insurance and extras needed.

Conclusions
The keyword of this project was: Teamwork. It was a big work but we managed to align with very different teams to offer our users the best customer experience. We worked with the marketing team and the SEO team to bring more users to the page and create a compelling narrative.
Then we needed to coordinate with the business and operations team to understand the different prices, insurances and availability in the stations.
And last but not least we need to work very closely with the development and infrastructure team to bring our vision alive.
Outcomes
- Align with the group team to have a shared design system.
- Align with the group team to have a shared research repository.
- Align with stakeholders and isolated teams to work together in this design.
Opportunities & recommendations
- The collaboration during the design phase was great but we should start building this collaborations prior to this phase to build more trust.
- We still got blocked by other teams because it was a big change and change is scary.
